The pre-professional division at City Center Dance is designed for students of all ages and levels wishing to pursue a more rigorous and focused study on ballet and contemporary technique and performance. Our comprehensive curriculum, experienced instructors, and dancer-centered approach provide a challenging and supportive environment for students to channel creativity and physicality into achieving their highest potential. Our dancers are immersed in a diverse community of socially conscious and responsible dance making. Both City Center Dance and Hudson Ballet Theatre encourage and promote dancer health over performance or aesthetic.
Our pre-professional program consists of 6 progressive levels and includes classes in ballet technique, contemporary & modern, pointe, variations, men’s class, partnering, and individual private coaching. Dancers enrolled in the pre-professional division will be invited to participate in Hudson Ballet Theatre’s Winter and Spring productions. Dancers will also receive evaluations annually in a jury-based exam directed by the faculty. Placement is based on age, strength, and development through audition or instructor’s recommendation.
